Located on the Kitsap Peninsula, Poulsbo sits on the waters of Liberty Bay.
It’s easily accessible from Seattle by a scenic ferry ride and a short drive through Bainbridge Island.
You can also get there via a scenic drive around the Peninsula on Hwy 101 and Hwy 3. This drive is an experience in itself.
The other option is crossing the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and coming in through Port Orchard.
No matter how you get there, it will be scenic.

I would plan to spend about an hour here unless you’re a maritime history aficionado.

The warm and cozy taproom (wood-paneled walls will do that!) is open daily.
There’s a lot going on at Western Red: food trucks, open mic, charity events, knitting groups, trivia nights, and live music.
But let’s talk about the beer. I wouldn’t be a good Pacific Northwesterner if I turned my nose up at an IPA. However, sometimes it feels like the whole brewing world has traded in their malty goodness for a snout of bitter hops.
Not Western Red Brewing. Yes, they have IPAs on the menu, and there is a whole lot more.
Kolsch’s, lagers, ambers, rich porters, and stouts – and not just one of each; there are options! Be still, my malt-loving heart.
With 20 taps, you’re sure to find something you like.

Rainy Daze Brewing
Rainy Daze is known for its unique brews. This is the first place I tasted a white stout, and a few years ago, that was as hard to find as a white whale.
They also get my vote for great beer names – Haulin’ Oats, Pourhouse, Goat Boater…
The taproom is open daily. With 16-ish offerings and a few guest ciders, there’s something for the hophead and the malt lover.
If you have a large group, this is a great choice. They have big tables.

I love the Scandanavian-inspired flavors (and names).
Slippery Pig also offers a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. Sandwiched, salad, tacos, and gourmet grilled cheese are highlights.
