Here is our video showing how we make the sandwich.

How to cook grilled sandwiches on an iron

Step 1: Butter the outside of both pieces of bread.

Step 2: Spread horseradish cream on the inside of both pieces of bread.

Step 3: Add a layer of ham.

Step 4: Add a layer of thinly sliced brie.

Step 5: Add a layer of thinly sliced apples.

Two slices of bread with brie on one side and sliced apples on the other, on a background of foil

Step 6: Close the sandwich and seal it in a packet of foil.

Step 7: Put the iron on the hottest setting, let it warm up, and set it on top of the sandwich – start with 3 minutes per side.

Note: Do not leave the iron unattended!

Step 8: Flip the sandwich and cook the other side for 3 minutes.

Step 9: Carefully open the foil packet and see if the cheese is melted. If not, reseal the foil and cook each side another 2 minutes.

Step 10: When the cheese is melted and the outside is toasty brown, happy eating!

You can grill any sandwich that your imagination can think up.

As mentioned in the video, gluten-free bread will also work for this recipe.

Consider pita bread, panini, or bagels in addition to regular sandwich bread.

We would love to know what you cooked up.
